As you may be aware, we have recently acquired 5 new practices.

These include Francis Opticians in Chirk, Malpas and Wrexham, Stephen Pinnington Opticians in Buckley and Meyrick Opticians in Burnham-on-Sea. Here is a little bit of history about Francis Opticians.

In the mid-19th century a prominent Wrexham family, the Francis’s, founded a pharmacy which in the 1880’s incorporated an opticians. The two facets within one business grew together for 50 years until just before the 2nd World War, when they parted company and Francis Opticians was established on Town Hill in Wrexham. In the 1970’s we moved to Church Street and then in 1995, to our present location on Chester street. We opened a practice in Chirk in the late 70’s and further expanded into Cheshire with the founding of our Malpas practice in 1998.
We are the second oldest business in Wrexham being beaten only by Gerrards the bakers.

Meyrick Opticians in Burnham-on-Sea.

Tony Meyrick has been trading in the seaside town of Burnham-on-Sea for many years and has now retired. The practice was part of the Kodak Lens Vision Centre before we acquired the business.

Stephen Pinnington Opticians in Buckley.

Stephen Pinnington is an Optometrist that owned a small group of practices and he recently decided to retire. We acquired his practice in Buckley and it is very close to the three Francis Opticians practices in the Wrexham area. This addition will make a great addition to the Armstrong & North group in the North West region.
