What to expect when you visit us in practice
After you have booked your appointment, we will give you a call to check your general health and understand your vision needs to best prepare for your visit.
Your general health
When we call, we will ask you some questions about your general health which includes asking you specific questions about Coronavirus. It is important for the wellbeing of our patients and our staff that you answer these questions to the best of your ability.
By appointment only
All visits to our practices are by appointment only. This includes routine examinations, contact lens checks, dispensing appointments, repairs and collections for both glasses and contact lenses. We will also try to prioritise emergency appointments where clinically necessary.
The number of appointments will be limited to allow your time with us to be as safe as possible. We have floor markings to help you and our staff maintain a safe social distance. We will keep the number of people in the practice to the absolute minimum. We ask patients to inform us if they intend to bring someone with them.
PPE – Personal protection equipement
Our team has been fully trained in the use of PPE. Team members will wear appropriate PPE, which may include face masks, face shields, disposable aprons and gloves. You may be asked to wear a face mask during your visit and we would ask that you bring your own face mask if you feel the need.
On arrival at the practice
You are now required to wear a face mask when attending an appointment.
A face visor or shield may be worn in addition to a face covering but not instead of one. This is because face visors or shields do not adequately cover the nose and mouth.
When you arrive at the practice, please use the hand sanitizer before your appointment and again as you leave. We will also ask you about any changes in your health. If there any doubts about your wellbeing, you may be asked to rearrange your appointment. Please do not be offended by this, the safety of you and our staff is our top priority.
The government definition of a face covering.
Before and after each patient visit, our team will thoroughly clean the practice in accordance with the guidelines set out by NHS England. Hand sanitizer is available at the entrance for visitors to use before and after visiting the practice. Staff will clean their hands before and after each appointment. All frames and tools used during the appointment will also be sterilized before the next patient’s appointment.
Our dispensing staff will make a selection of frames based on your styling and bring them to you to try on. The frames will be sterilised and checked before they are returned to the display bars. Your chosen frame will be fitted to you, cleaned, and sent to the lab for the lenses to be fitted. We will offer to post your completed glasses back to you at home to save a trip into the practice. There is a small charge to cover the postage and packaging of £3.95. You can discuss collection or postage options with our dispensing team.
